The book of numbers

This is about more than recording history, or zeros and ones. Most bookkeeping is naturally focused on what's behind you, but the inherent problem is that you can't hit a target you can't see. There are three ways of doing this. First, there's the do-it-yourself or low-cost bookkeeper, which is only data entry and reconciling accounts; most businesses begin here and it's perfectly fine until you literally outgrow it. Second, there's the certified bookkeeper or public accountant, which is better than the first, but may still be limited in scope (e.g., they don't file taxes or provide advice). Third, there's tax advisory, where we reveal what you can do based on your numbers.

All strategy depends on precise data. If there's commingling of business and personal transactions, you've opened yourself to tax scrutiny and legal liability. If your business's books aren't "clean," then you're making financial decisions based on outdated or potentially erroneous information. You could be spending too much valuable time trying to reconstruct what already happened, when you should be planning what happens next. Furthermore, you're way overpaying taxes because your books aren't clean enough to justify certain tax strategies. Your business and finances deserve more than conjecture.

What it looks like and why

Monthly reconciliation

Clean, accurate books include:

  • full account reconciliation (bank accounts, credit cards, loans, third-party, cryptocurrency, multi-entity)
  • tax-optimized chart of accounts and transaction categorization
  • month-end close
  • reports (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • QuickBooks Online management and optimization

If you're behind on your books, we're happy to get you current, but it may incur an additional charge if sufficiently severe.

You'll know your finances and make informed decisions, reduce liability risk, and open strategies to cut taxes and build wealth.

Payroll and optimization

  • full-service payroll through your existing payroll processor, or one of your choosing
  • payroll compliance and filing
  • W-2 and 1099 preparation and filing
  • Forms 941, 943, and 940 preparation and filing
  • workers' compensation coordination

1099 and vendor management can be a compliance nightmare, which you won't have to worry about. Tax advisory enables salary optimization for S-corp owners that can save at least $5,000-$15,300 a year in FICA taxes, assuming an average small business.

Year-End and integration

Instead of a hot mess, our organized deliverables maximize deductions and reinforce strategic planning:

  • complete year-end close, adjustments, and reconciliation (included at no additional cost)
  • tax preparation portfolio
  • depreciation schedule review and optimization

Audit-ready books allow a seamless transition into efficient, frustration-free tax prep without delays or quests for documents or substantiation. Tax advisory includes tax planning for next year.
